Client-Side PDF Electronic Signature and Date Stamp Placement
Executing contracts, lease agreements, onboarding forms, and tax declarations often requires placing a visual signature and date on a PDF before returning the file. PDF Signer lets you draw freehand signatures, generate cursive script from typed text, upload existing signature graphics, and add formatted date stamps directly inside your web browser without uploading documents to external servers.
The Signature Studio synthesizes each mark on an HTML5 2D canvas and normalizes it into a transparent PNG image buffer (`600 x 200` pixels for typed signatures, `400 x 140` pixels for drawn strokes, and `400 x 100` pixels for date stamps). When you finalize the document, the engine converts normalized page ratios into bottom-left PDF point coordinates (`pageHeight - posYFromTop - sigH`) and embeds the image bytes directly into the target page dictionaries.
You can configure pen ink colors across four presets, switch between `2px`, `3px`, and `5px` stroke widths, preview three cursive handwriting styles, or try a built-in two-page sample contract. Multi-page navigation controls let you step through every page, place multiple marks, remove unwanted entries from the `Signatures Placed` list, and download the flattened `_signed.pdf` file.
Core Tool Capabilities
- Freehand Drawing Canvas: Draw your signature using a mouse, trackpad, or touch screen on the `400 x 140` pixel studio canvas with a one-click `Clear` button. Customize stroke appearance using four ink color swatches (slate black `#0f172a`, navy blue `#1e3a8a`, emerald green `#047857`, and crimson red `#b91c1c`) and three pen widths (`2px`, `3px`, and `5px`).
- Cursive Typed Signature Synthesis: Enter your name in the `Type Your Full Name` input to render a `600 x 200` pixel transparent PNG signature in real time. Select from three handwriting font options (`Dancing Script`, `Caveat`, and standard `cursive`) rendered in your active ink color.
- Signature Image Upload and PNG Normalization: Import an existing signature image in PNG, JPG, WebP, or SVG format via the `Upload` tab dropzone. The workspace draws the uploaded graphic onto an in-memory 2D canvas at its natural pixel dimensions and normalizes it into a transparent PNG stream.
- Quick Date Stamp Placement: Pick any calendar date in the `Quick Date Stamp` selector (pre-filled with the current ISO date) and click `+ Add Date`. The studio generates a `400 x 100` pixel bold label (`Date: YYYY-MM-DD`) in the active pen color and places it at the bottom of the current page.
- Multi-Page Navigation and Placement List: Step through multi-page documents using the `Previous Page` and `Next Page` controls while inspecting live canvas previews at `1.5x` viewport scale. Every placed signature or date stamp is tracked by page number in the `Signatures Placed` sidebar, where individual items can be selected or removed.
- Coordinate-Mapped PDF Embedding: Clicking `Embed & Sign PDF` writes all placed signatures (`30%` page width by `10%` page height at `x: 35%, y: 70%`) and date stamps (`25%` width by `5%` height at `x: 35%, y: 82%`) into their assigned PDF pages. The modified document is serialized locally and exported as `<filename>_signed.pdf`.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this tool apply a cryptographic certificate or a visual electronic signature?
- This tool embeds a visual electronic signature and date stamp as transparent PNG image objects directly into the PDF page content stream. It does not attach a cryptographic X.509 digital certificate or PKCS#7 signature dictionary.
- Are my PDF contracts or signature images uploaded to a remote server?
- No. Both the PDF document and any drawn, typed, or uploaded signature images are processed in local browser memory with no network transmission.
- Where are signatures and date stamps positioned on the page?
- Clicking a placement button inserts the signature centered horizontally in the lower third of the currently viewed page (`35%` from the left, `70%` from the top, spanning `30%` width by `10%` height), while date stamps are placed slightly lower (`82%` from the top, spanning `25%` width by `5%` height). You can remove any placement using the `×` button on the page preview or the trash icon in the `Signatures Placed` list.
- Can I place signatures on multiple pages of the same document?
- Yes. Use the page navigation buttons above the preview canvas to move to any page in your PDF, then place as many signatures or date stamps as needed before clicking `Embed & Sign PDF`.
- What limits apply to PDF file size and page count?
- There are no artificial document limits or watermarks, but because the entire PDF buffer and 2D page canvas are held in client RAM, performance depends on available browser memory on your device.
